Building Your Own PC

In the following paragraphs I will be instructing you step by step on how to build your own PC (Personal Computer). It is recommended that you have general knowledge on computers. This means that you need to know what the different parts are and what they do.

The first thing that you want to do is to get all your tools and parts together. The tools that you will need are a Phillips screw driver and a ?” socket wrench. The basic parts that you must have are a motherboard (PC Board), a video card, a sound card, some RAM (Random Access Memory), a hard drive, a 3 ?” floppy A drive, and a computer case. For these particular instructions you will need a “tower” case. You may also want to include a CD-ROM into your system. Must current day computers have them installed, but it is not necessary.

Now that you have all your parts and tools it’s time to get started. Now the first thing that you will want to do is take the outer shell of the computer case off and set it to one side. After you have taken the outer casing off you will notice that one side of the inner case has screws holding in a panel. This is the side panel. You will want to unscrew the screws that are holding the side panel in place and then place it on the table with the inside facing up.

The next thing you are going to want to do is take the mounting screws that came with the case, and screw them into the screw holes on the side panel. You will want to use the ?” socket wrench to do this.   After you have tightly crewed those in you will want to take the PC board and set it on top of the mounting screws. You will want to place the holes of the PC board over the mounting screws. You will then want to screw down the PC board to the side panel. After you have done this place the side panel, with the PC board attached, back into the case and replace the screws that were holding it.
